The Head (Atlanta, GA)
Brothers Mike Shaw (bass, vocals) and Jack Shaw (drums) and Jacob Morrell (guitars) have been jamming together since high school, writing and performing original songs inspired by the bands they love: trippy Brits like Stone Roses, Spiritualized, Ride, The Verve and Echo and the Bunnymen, and moody Americans like The National, Scott Walker and early R.E.M.The Head have released two records, Millipedes (2015) and Space (2017), and have headlined tours throughout the U.S. and U.K. Theyve also shared the stage with The Brian Jonestown Massacre, Lucy Dacus, The Glorious Sons and Primal Scream, to name a few. In between touring, The Head continue to record and release singles.
Myrcenes started on the south side of Chicago in 2015. As with many 21st century relationships, Chicago native Christian Lennon and Jake McCurry from downstate Illinois met online, in a Facebook group for local musicians. Over the next three years, fellow Chicagoan Caz Kanabrocki and Dov Stanley from Jackson Hole, Wyoming joined their ranks and rounded out their sound. Now Myrcenes carry on the long Chicago tradition of Blues, booze, and regret infused Rock and Roll by bringing fuzz and psychedelia to stages and basements across the Midwest.
Their first single, Got Drunk and Bought a Bible, recorded at Treehouse Studios in Chicago, was self-released in 2016. April 2018 saw the release of two live videos for More Coffee Than Company and a new song Poltergeist through DZ Records in Hickory Hills, IL. Myrcenes have made the rounds in both the DIY scene and Chicago’s rock club circuit regularly since their debut, and plan to release their first EP in the summer of 2018.
